We are introduced to Professor Snape’s personal potions store in the Goblet of Fire. We see it in the film when Snape accuses Harry of stealing gillyweed and produces Veritaserum as a threat to get the truth. The book is slightly different, as we find out Dobby stole the gillyweed!
With 115 filled glass bottles, 6 cauldrons and a myriad of other miniature vessels lining the shelves, this book nook contains everything a potions master could need. But who do the tiny footprints belong to?
Each bottle has been individually filled with differing contents and labelled with unique hand-written and stained paper labels. All of the bottles have been carefully arranged and fixed into place on the shelves to boast a vast array and a few little gaps for more. No two bottles are the same, with different fillings, shapes, sizes and closures.
The tiny cauldrons have been made from scratch from glass components.
The ceiling is lit with warm white LED fairy lights to give the book nook a warm glow. The on/off switch and battery pack is wired onto the back of the book nook. It sits neatly into a custom built holder for easy removal when the batteries need to be changed. The battery pack takes 2x CR2032 button cells.
The sides of the book nook are adorned with the pages from Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire where Snape accuses Harry of stealing gillyweed and boomslang skin. These pages have been recycled from a damaged book. The top and back of the book nook are painted black.
This book nook has taken almost 30 hours to build, so has been a labour of love to gain this level of detail. A great talking piece and a place to discover a different detail each time you look at it. Not suitable for vegans due to some contents being derived from animals (vintage fur and bones). This item is not suitable for children and is recommended for adult collectors only due to the glass components. Must be handled with care.
This book nook incorporates natural, pre-loved and recycled materials diverted from landfill. This includes, but is not limited to: Vintage watch vials, vintage watch parts, silica gel, foam, scrap fabric, jute string, scrap paper, glass domes, glass marbles, book pages, herbs, spices (including MUSTARD), ALMOND, gemstones, vintage fur, feathers, sea urchins, coral, snake bones (professionally prepared), reindeer moss and sand.
